About SSCEF

Organizational Background

The Falmouth Rod and Gun Club (FRGC) was founded in 1933 and incorporated in 1948.  Over the years, in addition to its social activities, the club became more engaged in educational and charitable endeavors.   At a point in time, it seemed appropriate that some activities would be better conducted by an affiliated, but independent, non-profit organization.  This would enable the club to focus on its main role as a fraternal organization.

In June of 2011, the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Rod and Gun Club authorized a committee to be formed in order to establish an independent non-profit entity - the Sporting, Safety, Conservation, and Education Fund of Falmouth, Inc. (SSCEFF).  On February 25th 2013, SSCEFF was granted Non-Profit Corporate status.  In order to facilitate tax deductible donations for its evolving mission, SSCEFF pursued and was awarded 501(c)(3) status as a Public Charity on September 11th, 2014.

Recently SSCEFF has decided to also be known as (a.k.a.) Sporting, Safety, Conservation, and Education Fund (SSCEF).  This was done as the organization supports Falmouth, Mashpee and other community organizations on the Cape.

SSCEF Today

SSCEF is directing significant energy and resources toward conservation initiatives.  Its mission is to "conserve and preserve the land, waterways, fish and wildlife habitat of Upper Cape Cod for generations to come."  Our hope is to help sustain Cape Cod's unique beauty and natural resources through conservation and education.  We like to think of ourselves as "Giving Nature a Helping Hand".

Our primary focus is currently on conservation projects like the Upper Childs River Restoration.  As we move forward, we will increase our focus on youth programs and education, and leveraging scientific results of the various projects in order to enhance learning.

We will continue to support like-minded organizations which contribute to the vitality of our communities and that align with our core direction - which is provided by our Board of Directors.  They along with the 300+ Falmouth Rod and Gun Club membership will work together to enhance our separate contributions to the community.
